A Honda is for life, not just for Christmas!

My husband and I had talked about getting a couple of motorbikes and touring the country one summer for years. But, as the children continued to come and we got caught up in daily activities the dream was pushed to the back burner.

Two Christmases ago my husband covered my eyes and led me to the driveway. There sat two Honda motorbikes, one was black and red and the other was black and pink including matching leathers and helmets, bike insurance and all the necessary equipment. I couldn’t believe he’d done it. He said since Matthew was going to be gone on a trip to France this summer and all of the other kids were in college he didn’t see a reason we couldn’t take to the roads.

I was stunned, nervous and excited!

So after much planning, getting equipment together and obtaining bike insurance we decided to tour twenty states. Staying in each one for at least a day to rest. Considering the occasional rain storm it was the best summer I’d had in years. There is nothing like feeling the wind hit your face without inhibitions and just going wherever the road takes you. Well we weren’t actually that free. We had an itinerary that we stuck too but, it will be a trip that I’ll always remember.

Finding Great Bike Insurance Deals

If you have recently purchased a new motorcycle, you will most likely be looking for a decent bike insurance policy. I won’t bother going in to the value and importance I place on bike insurance (or any types of insurance for that matter), because you should know by now that I always recommend having it. Therefore, this article will look at the ways you could go about finding a great deal on your bike insurance. Sometimes, you will be required to look around a number of different places, but more often than not, you will find a great “special” or “package” with just a little bit of effort Let me show you how.

As is usual, I recommend you head straight to a major search engine, and type in a very specific term to find specials on your bike insurance premiums. Such terms could include “bike insurance specials” or “cheap bike insurance”. Anything like this will do. Once you have the list of results, you need to filter out the garbage from the genuine offers. To do this, search through the list of results, and take a look at the descriptions listed with each result listing. Sometimes, big search engines tend to take keywords from incorrect sites, so instead of your term resulting in results for “cheap bike insurance” being motorbikes, it will return listings for mountain bikes or the like.

You can avoid this by making your search term even more specific. In my mind, the more specific the better. Hence, using the term “cheap motorcycle insurance packages” will return extremely targeted results, and no doubt you will find something from here. Just remember - motorbikes must be insured! Treat it like you would a car or a boat. They are valuable, and at a high risk of damage.

Ins And Outs Of Motor Bike Insurance

Just like you can get insurance on other vehicles, motor bike insurance is available for those who enjoy the excitement and rush that riding in the open air can bring. The tyoe of bike insurance you choose will of course vary depending on the use you have for the motorbike. For example, if you compete in off-road competitions, the chances of something going wrong with your bike are far great than if you were to simply ride on the road. Clearly, insurance companies will take this in to account when calculating prices for motorbike coverage.

So, just how expensive is motorbike insurance, and is it a necessary policy to take out on your bike? Well, as I recommend with basically anything which has wheels and moves - it’s extremely important. Even driving on the road has a certain risk to it. Most of the time, it’s not necessarily your fault, but the fault of someone else - perhaps someone less experienced than you. Therefore, should something adverse happen to your motorcycle by the fault of another - and they don’t have insurance either - it makes the process of recovering the cost of repairs particularly difficult.

Hence, I recommend that you purchase motorbike insurance the very moment you purchase a motorbike. This means that you won’t be driving without it, and hence won’t have to bear any risk of financial hardship at all. For help with finding places to purchase motorcycle insurance, read some of my other articles, or head straight out to the internet - search for a specific term such as “off-road motorbike insurance”, and filter through the results from there. Not only will you be surprised with the number of companies offering this type of insurance, but you may just find yourself a great deal in the process.
